Can you take it?

I was at church this past Sunday as a guest. And the church had a guest preacher that really made me think over the course of this week. His message was based around the word "take". And getting down to the bones of it.....he stated that you need to take the things that are yours in life.

So as the week progressed, it really began to sink in for me. God's people are not meant to be passive. We are not meant to go to church on Sundays, say a couple of Amen's, and spout that God will work it out. We should be a people of action. We should be a burden on the devil rather than him burdening us.

Think of it this way......if your biological father told you, "I've got a brand new car for you with a million dollars in the trunk and all you have to do is take the keys from Bobby down the street", how long would it take you to snatch the keys out of Bobby's hands? Most of us would have slapped Bobby and been in the car before he could blink twice. Why you ask? Because your daddy said that it was yours. It's amazing how brave we'll get for money and things. And if you felt you couldn't take it, then you obviously don't believe that it's yours, right? But we tend to wait around to be given all of the things that God has in store for us (peace, love, prosperity, etc).

Now, that's not to say that it's always an easy road or task. But if we want what's ours we have to stop crying, making excuses, and throwing pity parties about circumstances in our lives. Take responsibility for your actions, don't make excuses, and do what needs to be done. Everyone has adversity in their lives. You got knocked down and it hurt......so now you've got to get back up with the lesson learned and put the new plan into action. So I guess what it comes down to is.....how dedicated are you? Are you ready to take what's yours?

You make a great point about the car situation. Of course If I know that something belongs to me then I am going to get it voluntary or involuntary. I think the people that wait for things to be done is the people that are not as Godly as they should b; not sayint that they are the demons, but they don't worship God as they should. They people that put both feet forward and go and get what is theirs already know that God has those things for them and all they have to do their part and when it's time for them to have it He will give it to them.

it's good to see a black man who is willing to work to advance himself in life. I get so tired of hearing people complain that "the man" has been holding them back, that they had a bad childhood, etc. You can have anything in life that u want. If u keep that attitude ur guaranteed to be successful in life. Pass that message on to the rest of our black men. God bless and good luck to u.
