Did any of yall hear the annoucement that Fantasia made on 20/20, that she could barely read and write.
* Fantasia revealed that she is functionally illiterate. The Season 3 "American Idol" winner admitted she faked her way through scripts on the show and signed contracts she couldn't understand.
Do you think this is common in the entertainment industry

Im not mad at ol girl at all. Think about where she grew up. I mean sometimes its just like that. See said she wanted to go back to school when she won American Idol. I mean certain life situations makes you make decisions like that. So I mean Idon't fault the girl nor do I think people should look at her any differently

I am glad that Ms. Fantasia has made it, but what about the rest of her life?
These are our youth role models, there is no excuse, I grew up from school to school, residence to residence, foster home to foster home and street to street.
And lets not even add in the mental, emotional and physical trauma.
In days of old, I probably would have been illiterate. I graduated from school in the 80's.
My question is the fact that hey a person can be slack in school, make a baby, fake it on a t.v. show etc. What about all the other contestants that work their behinds off?
"God" is good to all.
Not playa hating, but facts are facts and truths are truths and what is wrong with society is that hey everything is all right at the expense of just getting their.
What about the male/female that are busting their tales to make it, what does this say to a whole generation in general in reference to education.
Many kids wants to sing, rap, dance, play sports, sell drugs etc. because of what they hear and say on t.v. and then adults, rolemodels etc. say its ok???
In my Church the other Sun, the Minister preached on how vast influence can be.
President Clinton had oral s*x in the white house, guess what, now China produces c*ndoms named Clinton and Lewinsky.
Even though I was a big Clinton fan, the statistics now show that the very act that Clinton did has affected a large population of youths in believing that oral s*x is not s*x thus non harmful.
Now we will have a lot of kids that are crazy about Anastasia saying, well look at her, she made it!
We already have a hard enough time trying to get our youths to study and learn verses the massive amounts of stimuli that pulls them away.
When does anybody say it is wrong at the expense of not being verbally blasted if they do not agree with the norm of the world?
Education comes in many forms.
I pray that Ms. Fantasia takes it upon herself to get herself together in reading, writing, math etc.
There are thousands of ex stars out there that are dead, dying, suicidal etc.
The career for most singers is what 3-5 yrs? How many have long term financial success?
Very few.

I agree about the language, I have had my share of people talking about my speech.
By the way, there are many that graduate, college students etc. that have had it as rough or rougher.
I know we are people and thus human and what affects 1 affects another differently.
I am not her.
But I never received her breaks either, the average person in this world does not.
I just have to be real and honest. I am glad that a sistah won, but the standards and influence that may/will arise from this. Many athletes, many singers etc, the untold thousands who do not make it, how many go back to school? How many keep trying to go on forward and die in the process because they had nothing to fall back on?
How will this affect all those youth and peers that look up to this young lady?
LilKim does speeches at schools, now how many young girls wear that hair, bypass school get with the local drug dealer that represents a biggie and seek to make it in rap.
Where is the line drawn? Anywhere?
Is this cool for those of us that have kids or will?
I wonder about the influence.
That same brilliance used on American idol, that same effort, zeal and tenacity shows the brains is there to do it.
I wish her well.
