RE: Blacks Don't Read
In respect to my blog "Black People Don't Read," I know there are some black people that read; the focus is on the ones who don't and who are being taking advantage of because lack of knowledge. For those who do read we need to encourage them to read more. And yes, there is racism still out there and we have to be strong and fight through oppression. It doesn't matter who ranked what in high school, it is what you are producing as an individual. When you are working for a corporation there might be racism, but money is a universal race that no one will discriminate against. A black migrant worker in Florida faced a lot of obstacles in his life, but he decided to go to college. The college he attended was a black college in the south; after grauduating from the college he attended law school, and now he runs a firm, and now Harvard law school graduates work for him. What I am trying say is racism will always be present, but we can defeat racism with knowledge. If you let a number or ranking defeat you; you are weak and don't have drive. If you know you have the capability of becoming successful race issues won't deafeat you. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. didn't let racism defeat them. Yes, the author was white, but that should make us more determine to do better because he think we are inferior. This isn't to dog out my people, but to inform my people about the perception other races have about us. And if you doing your thing with education and have a nice job, good for you. Let's not forget about our people who lost hope; those are the people we need to reach out too. Some of our people reach a certain level of success they forget where they come from, and they look down on the people who don't have direction. It is our obligation as an race to build our people up. Don't be offended it's just a wake up call, and if you are offended then you are titled to your opinion.
My Applause Bro.
Keep up the great works of awareness.
