Black People Don't Read

I read a article stating that black people don't read; I was furious because the author was white. He said "If you want to keep information from black people put it in a book." I don't know about anybody else, but that set an inferno in my belly to read every current event and book that I can get my hands on. My people we are falling into that stereotype that the media have set for us. We need to go against the grain and show them that the inner city is built from creative minds. Think about George Washington Carver he made infinite possibilities from a peanut and white people are capitalizing from it. Creative minds are in the inner city and the youth are wasting their talents on the streets and watching television that has no substance. Every black person should consider entreprenuership because the world is ever changing and our people need to rise up. It's not so much about race these days its about producing capital, so our people need to hang up the race card and the famous quote "The white man is keeping me down!" This is an excuse to be lazy and blame our faults on society. This is the information age everything is available to us. I don't know when after civil rights when our people became lazy and think the fight is over; it is far from being over. During slavery our people was killed if they were caught reading; now our days we look at reading as being a burden. Listen we are investing our money into things that depreciates. We need to invest our money into education and other things that will appreciate. Tell me how does it look pulling up to an apartment in a escalade; that is insanely stupid. some black people are into instant gratification. Little secret, instant gratification can lead to poverty. The white man is laughing at us saying these people are buying cars and house they can't afford and they think they have a status....The fact is they have us trapped because we don't read about the loans they have for inner city families so they can repossess their homes and cars etc. We need to become more aware about what is going on in the world or we will forever be in the new form of slavery..."informational slavery."

If you like to name call, please do so. Your are titled to your opinion, but you have to start at the root of the problem. If we stop the black on black crime we can progress as a unit and then we can fight for opportunities. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King made it possible so that we can advance and become doctor, lawyers and rocket scientist etc. There are programs for minorities, but some people don't know about them.Yes, we might not have as much opportunity as white people, but we came a long way. You have to look at what we have achieved like leading acting roles, talk shows anchors etc. If opportunity doesn't knock at your door; go find the address to opportunity and deliver your talent. The best thing about our race is survival and determination. We are not weak people and if opportunity isn't there will make opportunity for our self. Library books are free and we can read the material provided at a library their is no excuse. Why do we have to work for white people;lets start our own corporations. Make your own opportunity it's possible you just have to struggle a little bit, because with struggles come success. Have your opinion, but I am titled to mine.
