Hip Hop To Blame For Katrina Chaos?

There have always been uptight white people who feel threatened by black music. Starting with slave masters being made uneasy by the drumming and dancing of their "chattel property" in the antebellum south; to the ridiculous fear in the early 20th century among the establishment that jazz was "too racey" and led to white teenagers using 'reefer'; to members of the clergy, dj's and parents nationwide screaming "rock and roll has got to go" in the 1950's and 1960's because white kids had the nerve to follow the example of blacks and dance to it by moving body parts other than their feet.
Now, in the 21st century, we have uptight white people with nothing better to do blaming hip hop for the current mess in New Orleans. Yes, that's right, according to the ultra-white right wing Spectator, it wasn't nature, the Bush administration's slow response, or the fact that the city lies under sea level that resulted in the chaos following the storm. No, it was hip hop music and those bad, bad black people who listen to it. If I remember correctly from my psych 101 class, this outrageous blaming of the victim is what is referred to by Freud as "transference and projection"- or the habit of blaming others for issues you are in denial about (like racism), and your own shortcomings (like refusing to admit and learn from mistakes). Irrascible neo-cons appear to be a high risk group for the disorder, with no cure in sight. So for goodness' sake, would all you uppity negroes out there, please STOP SCARING THE WHITE FOLKS!!! A few of the more sheltered ones seem to be overtly clueless, fragile, delicate, and rather easily set off.
