MIRROR

I’m standing here in the middle of this room
Looking back on a reflection that’s supposed to be me
Now can somebody figure out what the hell do I do
When my mind telling me something that my eyes not willing to see?

Ya see that’s what we as adults do
Convince ourselves we not the entire mistake
Playing the blame game by pointing the snitching finger
When the world decides to get all up in your face?
Denial can be an ugly thing these days
And you honestly can’t say the same?

Attitudes are clear, they too can speak
Emotions though sometimes deadly can’t go away
Doctors call it bipolar, throw medication at’cha
But what would the man in the mirror say?

How do we get to know the real you
Today is a façade, tomorrow is never the same
Man bullcrap folks rhyming unfunny jokes
And you really believe this here is a game?

Life today is a result of the individuals in it
Better to get caught up rather than stuck out
George Bush created a loophole for minorities
To much like work huh so you ain’t trying to hear a new route

Don’t stand here and preach the freedom speech
Claiming you devised a plan
You want the other colored family to have a pity party n*gga
And you say you doing the best you can?
My people breaking they necks all over texas
And you still act like you don’t give a damn
Don’t believe me then ask ms selfish over there to lend you a helping hand

Life can be like a free falling bungee jump
Everyday it changes from a new disposition
One minute a n*gga hard core to tha “T”
Then tomorrow he has switched positions
Sorry mama but instead of your daughter
Creating problems, he the one walking around
Tongue trippin, & switching
Boy somebody should have told you that you just entered into hell’s kitchen
Your perspective of a situation has the
Power to change within an instant
GOD said “love thy neighbor” as a judgement rule
And yet you still choosin to act distant?
It’s bad enough that we have to endure filthy politicians
Switching and twitching jinxing their
Community from right to left
Maan ain’t nobody help me write this lyric
Cause im recognizing the damage done by my damn self

We blind sighted when justice is near
We turn our back on the needy and then call them greedy
Always standing there with your hand poked out
Nah my people you not even feeling me

Young African American sistah, you looking real good
These days, all grown up when you turned 18
Girl you bet not let that n*gga run game on you
And you don’t know whose block he has been in

I thought that if I created a new poem
And recited with a loud voice
Then just maybe this lazy government would get they tax-brackets behinds
Up and move our country to another course
What’s the matter since the minorities only speaking,
Our money not good enough for you
Now we gotta elect a black man for a president
Hope he don’t betray us in office
Cause we really can’t afford for him to.

“It’s just a job” not your job
only do what they tell ya
well the way the economy is increasing our value
you sure im not gone be here forever?
Better stop playing games and get to know my supervisor just a little bit better
