Sick and tired of being sick!

Its me again family. Today i woke up and i felt like a train had hit me. I have been fighting a cold for about a week and a half now. For most people a cold usually goes away in about 4 days tops but not for me. Why is this u ask? Well its because i have a disease called Diabetes. I have Type 1 which is usually described as Juvenile-Onset. I was diagnosed in the 12th grade. What a graduation present huh? I maintain by injecting 30 units of 70/30 insulin and 15 units of Regular insulin twice daily. So yes i have an un-dying love for needles..lol. Prehaps thats why i have 4 tats. Diabetes is one of the top 10 killers for minorities such as African American people. It is a disease that can open up flood gates for a number of other problems. Diabetics are prone to depression, blindness, high-blood pressure, restless legs syndrome, kidney failure, stomach problems and a mountain of other problems. We are also prone to catching viruses and other illnesses b/c our immune systems arent that strong either. Yes, thats right. Diabetes does affect ur immune system. The affects of diabetes can be side-swiped with a hearty helping of exercise, the appropriate diet, the correct dosage and scheduling of meds, and knowledge. To look at me u would not even notice i was sick. U see, i was born into this. For as long as i can remember my parents have taking meds and injected themselves to win the battle against this disease. I am not afraid b/c i have been around it my whole life. Yep, its also hereditary and i pray to God my son never has to deal with it. I am what the black community calls a true soldier. Dont feel sorry for me and my family. Dont look at me wit pity b/c im may be the one person in history that donates the 1 billion dollars that actually finds a cure for this disease. Maybe my two cousins and I ,being the intelligent and resourceful women we are, will actually be the ones that find a cure. Who knows what we will do. But as a member of this site and an advocate for the fight against Diabetes, All i want u to do as a society is be wise and take care of urselves.
Symptoms of diabetes:
increased thirst
increased or decreased hunger
frequent urination and dehydration
nausea and vomiting
confusion
drowsiness
strange fruity smelling breath (and kno it doesnt stink...lol)

abdominal pains (these are worse then stomach cramps)
rapid heart rate
TAKE CARE OF URSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
