so my younger brother is 17 and is in a group home for juvenilles in rehab and i was talkin to him lastnight and he says to me that all he knows is how to sell drugs and street life....im tryna tell him that if he doesnt change by the time he is 18 itz on his perminant record.....i told him that look at me im in school and will be done next year and that he could do the same if he put his mind to it....the environment that he is surrounded by is crazy...his other grandmother could careless about him she doesnt even go and see him.....i was gettin so heated that i made a promise to my brother that when i finish school im goin to get him and he could live with me.....now my brother is not the most trust worthy brother but im willing to risk that to show him other things outside of stealing and selling drugs....its so so sad to me that he thinks that that is "all he knows"

That is really heartwarming to know that you are trying to get your brother out of the street life and in to something more positive. Is he from Jersey also?

girl I'm about to go through the same thing with my brother (14) My lil cuz (13) just told me that he and my brother joined a gang. Well we all know gang leads to violence with eventually leads to a life of crime. Which will force him to give his life to the system. I do commend you as well for being there for him, but I hsve learned from having a father in the streets that some people only learn from their experience. It's like telling them isn't enough. Tell have to see and live it themselves, and sadly sometimes its the best way for them to learn. I'm not saying to abandon him, but give him time to grow and learn from his own mistakes. I believe in tough love. My mother raised my brother and myself on her own. He has has his father in his life. Although he is young, he's old enough to know right from wrong. He's making adult decisions so he should be entitled to adult punishments.
