Stand up for your HBCU!!
I love attending ASU. I have always wanted to go to an HBCU, eventhough people give them a bad reputation. But, you have to wonder where do the sterotypes come from. For, example, most people think that nothing at an HBCU starts on time. This is not true. The events, such as convocations, that were held at ASU started on time, everytime. Another thing that people assume is that the course loads at black colleges are not challenging. America still has the idea that black citizens are not capable of being intellectual and prosperous. When in fact, since slavery times, blacks have raised and taught whites. But, still, people think that black colleges are not good enough for them. One still has to wonder were these sterotypes come from. My sociology teacher said in one of her lectures that, " every stereotype has some truth behind it." Whatever the case may be, I know one thing, I am proud of my school, and everything it stands for. You do not need to attend Harvard or the University of Alabama to be sucessful. Stand up for your HBCU!!!!!!
I LOVE ASU TOO. GO HORNETS!
