Description: The 5K Walk/Run (W/R) historically takes place the third Saturday of July. The Walk/Run itself starts on 2nd and Wisconsin avenue and ends up on the lakefront at Veterans Park. The course has been certified by the Badgerland Striders. Free food and entertainment are provided to the participants during the picnic following the W/R. Ronald McDonald, face painting, the Survive Alive House, games and entertainment are all part of the activities for the young people. During the post race events trophies are awarded to the winners of the race as well as to the groups with the largest number of participants. A number of companies and churches order tents for their members. The entire event has a very wholesome and festive atmosphere. Around 3,500 people participate in this event. Pre-registration is $18 and $15 for children 12 and under; late registration is 20 and $18 for children. T-Shirt comes with registration.
