Salon Alone
Has a stylist ever left you totally alone in the salon?
As someone who routinely spends over an hour under the dryer with each visit, I am accustomed to finding things to occupy my time. I can zone out the rest of the world under the hum of the dryer.
On one occasion my zone was interrupted with a tap on the shoulder. After getting my attention, the stylist said "I need to take Renee home. I will be back in 30 minutes." I instantly returned from my oasis. I looked up and there was not a shampoo girl or receptionist in sight. I realized that I would be alone in the salon.
Shortly after she dashed out, I started to think about how I would defend myself if someone broke in the door. I considered using the oil sheen as a fog diversion to grab a hot comb as a weapon. Then, I pondered whether I could sprint to the supply closet in time to hide to avoid the intruder. I would have to move fast.
The turn of the key and the announcement "I am back" interrupted my next thought. The stylist, now back on duty, asked me whether the dryer stopped. I said no but mumbled but my heart almost did.
