The Blogger: Edition 4 (249 hits)

"Whites - 9.5 million; Blacks - 3." - Gordon Jackson, chief editor of The Dallas Examiner.

Welcome to the 4th edition of The Blogger. For those of you who don't know, I am in Dallas right now. I don't have access to the Internet at "home," so I cannot really get in the chat room as I have in the past. Believe me, I miss it. But all good things must come to an end, as I won't be able to be on it when I'm back in school either. Then again, neither will most of you as most HBCUs do not offer Internet in the dorm rooms. Enough of the small talk...time for the BIG news of the week.

BIG news of the week happened yesterday: Michael Jackson has been acquitted of all ten charges brought against him. That's what the quote stands for at the beginning of The Blogger. It shows the score for people who have gotten off for doing stuff that they are "guilty" of doing (Michael Jackson, O.J. Simpson, and someone else I can't remember). That is an unbelievable feat for Michael Jackson. I thought he would be found guilty on at least two charges. I think it's sad though. It's sad how his career will be marred by this one case. Everyone from Jay Leno to Chris Tucker was there as star witnesses. I hope that people realize that Micahel may be wierd, but he's no child molester. It's going to be very interesting to see if the family will file a civil suit for the money. I'm sure they will, as the attourneys aren't cheap!

But I'm very proud of the jury, which consisted of no Blacks. I wonder though; if Blacks had've been in the jury, would he have been acquitted. The reason I say this is because I know a lot of Blacks that say he should be in jail. It will be an interesting jury book made off of this too. I would definitely check it out of the library to read it. I wonder which juror will be the first to release a book about the trial. I'm sure they will try to bank off of the case as soon as possible. I like what the jury said though: "Please let us go back with our private lives as annoymously as we came." Very well said, as many anti-Jackson people will egg their cars today and tomorrow...

The other BIG news of the week is the split of the world-famous group known as Destiny's Child. I was surprised to hear this and thought it was another one of those rumors. However, it's true. The group will be going their separate ways to do what they want to do in life. Congrats to them. They are leaving on a high note, and they are going to continue to support each other. I'm a fan of theirs and I will miss them performing together, but I can cherish the memories. I think Beyonce was getting a big head anyway. Anywho, it's sad some other groups can't learn from them. *coughs*G-Unit*coughs* Too bad I don't like G-Unot...

Disney looks to be in serious trouble. First, a wrestler by the name of Sharkboy is suing Disney for using his trademarked name in the movie Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3D...or something of that nature. Now, a four-year-old boy has died after riding a ride called Epcot. This ride is a space stimulation of a rocket going to Mars. It also exhibits twice the normal force of gravity. The boy passed out while on the ride and died shortly afterwards. He met all requirements for the ride too. It looks as if Disney is going through a black spell. A while ago, they declared bankruptcy, which scared off any potential buyers of Disney. Their movies are not doing as well as they used to, as they are getting blown out by Shrek movies (Shrek 3 will be out in 2006). They are being sued, and now have a death on their hands. I wonder what's next for Disney...as it could be the last straw that breaks the investors back...

Wow...the Pistons are down in the series. They are not looking too good playing against a more experienced and talented Spurs team. No, I don't want the Spurs to win, but I must give them their props. They have beaten the MESS out of Detroit the past two games. I'm surprised by the reemergence of Robert Horry and Tim Duncan. Duncan had been playing badly in the last few games, and I expected the same. However, he has come back out like he loves the game more than before. Anywho, I've never seen a butt whipping like that. The 76ers played better against the Lakers in their prime...and the 76ers for the most part were lucky because Iverson didn't get hurt (otherwise they would've been gone in the first round). I hope that Detroit can do something to make this series exciting again. I don't want to watch the rest of the series, knowing the Pistons won't win a game. They still have a shot, but it looks like a long one...

The 4400 and The Dead Zone have premiered their new seasons, respectively, on USA Network. The 4400 did a nice job of picking up where they left off. I'm enjoying the series, as it adds more drama and suspense with each episode. I am liking The Dead Zone as well. The first episode was a continuation of the last episode from last season. I liked the concept and everything, but the only thing I didn't like is when he gave up his cane. That was his signature mark in the show, and they threw it away in the first episode. Hmmm...I get this wierd feeling it'll be back with him before the season is over though. Check both shows out on USA Network on Sundays starting at 9/8 p.m.

Well...that's wraps up this edition of The Blogger. I'll be looking forward to the aftermath of the Jackson trial. It was nice to see his family come out and support him in his time of need. Let this be a lesson people: nothing beats family support. Make sure you guys stay safe for the dangerous weather that'll be hitting the US in various points. Florida already had its first storm. Good luck to all of you. I guess I'll throw up the deuces now. PEACE!!!
