While some reporters admitted that they were 'pleased' with the jurors' verdict of 'Not Guilty' in the Michael Jackson trial, others expressed obvious dissatisfaction and disdain over the 'Not Guilty' verdict.
Tom Sneddon, Santa Barbara County District Attorney,
had loyal supporters in his apparent 'witchhunt' against Michael Jackson. The supporters included many of the media. Their dream, was Sneddon's dream, that Michael Jackson, King of Pop, would be 'dethroned' as it were.
Their disappointment is so great that they have implied that the twelve (12) jurors did not 'do their job' in a manner that upheld "Lady Justice". But the jurors did do their job much to the chagrin of Tom Sneddon and his supporters. Nancy Grace, host of the CNN produced "Nancy Grace Show", seemed particularly perturbed by the jurors' verdict. She has maintained, since the beginning when the allegations were first leveled against Michael Jackson, that he was guilty, guilty, guilty. She relied somewhat heavily on his 'weird appearance' according to her and his 'unusual fondness for children" for someone his age. What kind of judicial system is it when it is admonished to believe that a person's outward appearance, as in the case of Michael Jackson, confirms his guilt? I've watched the Nancy Grace show for sometime and she has had some 'pretty scary' looking panelists on. Should we hasten to believe that they are people with questionable character? That would be just as absurd as the media encouraging you and I to believe that because Michael Jackson changed his 'looks' that makes him a child molester. Michael Jackson truly loves children and yet, because we live in a 'sick' 'twisted' society his expressions of fondness toward children have been described as impure, and insidious.
The jurors didn't allow the 'media' to do their thinking for them, and it is for this reason along with their strong dislike of Michael Jackson, that the media is attempting to throw darts at the jurors' decision to acquitt Michael Jackson. The jurors used common sense and allowed the evidence to speak for itself. And the so-called 'evidence' screamed at them to exonerate Michael Jackson.
Justice cried out today for all to hear. Many are choosing to turn a deaf ear to its voice. It doesn't really matter....the verdict is in. The jurors allowed the legal system to work in the Jackson trial.
I admit my own surprise to justice prevailing in the Michael Jackson case. So often, as we know, it does not.
In conclusion my words to Nancy Grace and all the rest of the 'media' who are trying to pick the verdict apart are.. GET OVER IT!!!!! Today, June 13, 2005, marks an historic day, Michael Jackson has been found NOT GUILTY!!! He is a free man.
