"Bringing the Ark of the Covenant"
1 Chronicles 15:25-29
David was willing to look foolish in the eyes of some people in order to express his thankfulness to God fully and honestly in contrast, Michal was so disgusted by his undignified actions that she could not rejoice in the Ark's returns to Jerusalem. Worship had so deteriorated under the reign of the father, Saul, that it had become stilted and ritualistic. Michal could accept David as a military conqueror and as a king, but she could not accept his free and spontaneous expression of praise to God. Some devoted people may look foolish to us in their heartfelt expressions of worship, but we must accept them. In the same way, we should not be afraid to worship God with whatever expressions seem appropriate.
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"Got no check books, got no banks.
Still I'd like to express my thanks-
I got the sun in the mornin'
And the moon at night." - Irving Berlin
BLACK HISTORY TRIVIA:
The dealer wins. Nobody got yesterday's correct answer, which was Anna Julia Hayward Cooper. Here is today's question: on this day in 1970, a memo written by Daniel Patrick Moynihan to President Richard Nixon is revealed. In the memo, Moynihan, domestic advisor to the president, counseled him that "the time may have come when the issue of ________ could benefit from a period of benign." Fill in the blank with the correct word.
