"Jesus Calls For Repentance"
Mark 1:14-15
What is the Good News? These first words spoken by Jesus in Mark gave the core of His teaching: that the long awaited Messiah had come to break the power of sin and begin God's personal reign on earth. Most of the people who heard this message were oppressed, poor, and without hope. Jesus' words were good news because they offered freedom, justice, and hope.
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"The greatest need in America at the moment is for a moral and spiritual renewal. This comes, I believe, only as we turn in repentance and faith to the living God, who stands ready to forgive us and renew us from within." - Billy Graham
BLACK HISTORY TRIVIA:
Congratulations to Valarie Mason, who was the early bird on yesterday with the correct answers, Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds. Here is today's question: keeping with the sports theme, this tennis star died on this day on 1993 from complications from AIDS. One of his closest friends was an African-American journalist, who now calls games for The NFL Network. Who was the tennis star and who his friend to which I am referring?
