"Clothed by God"
Luke 12:27-28
Several years ago, when I taught in Tyrrell County, a young man came in my class wearing jeans with the price tag still attached. Behind him sat another young man who came from a very poor family. Noticing the price tag, I said to the young man, "D.B., were you aware that you still have the price tag on your jeans?" He said, "Yeah, Mr. Burney. I want people to know how much they cost." On the tag was a price of $90. The young man, who sat behind D.B., just dropped his head and his facial expression said at all. If anyone asks me how I feel about school uniforms, you can believe that I will be one of the most vocal supporters of school uniforms because of this incident I witnessed.
In this passage of Scripture, Jesus compares the beautiful appearance of a lily to the way that Solomon dressed. Solomon, in all his glory, was not a big dresser and the lily was dressed better than he. If God cares so wonderfully for the flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, He will most surely care for you. They say clothes make the man, but being clothed by God makes a better man.
