Excuses are the hidden enemy that are undermining your personal and professional success.
How? They create an easy and tempting alternative to the healthy, productive actions that you need to take to reach your goal. Instead of accepting the fact that our goals require sacrifice and effort, it's easy to use excuses to justify our lack of progress.
The path to success includes steps and periods of our life that will naturally be unpleasant. Difficult challenges, embarassment, disappointment, and fatigue are all byproducts in the creation of a successful life. A forward thinking person expects these things to come, and is not surprised or demotivated when they appear.
Excuses, on the other hand, play into our own emotional weaknesses. Our self-doubt, frustration, and fear drive us to create excuses instead of accepting the truth: we are all prone to mistakes and difficulty, and this event or situation is simply our turn for it.
They destroy one of the most productive forces in our life - recognizing that we as individuals are always in the process of learning, growing, and improving.
Think about the last excuse you made, and how your life would be different if you had accepted the knowledge that that particular experience was trying to give you, instead of making an excuse.
Learn to recognize the thought patterns that lead to making excuses, and begin to stop those thoughts when they appear. Start conquering your frustration. Realize that all of us will occasionally make bad decisions, or end up in undesirable situations. Accept that success takes effort.
Destroy excuses, and start living your best life.
