How many of you are politically active?
I consider myself a moderate... I don't subscribe to either a conservative or progressive agenda, but I feel like we should pick and choose what's best for our community.
I side with the Democrats in getting out of the Middle East, committing to improve healthcare and education for disadvantaged people, and I respect their commitment to diversity and equality here and around the world.
Iraq was an expensive mistake that we will pay for for a generation economically and socially, and I think we should hold our leadership accountable.
On the other hand, I like the Republicans' support for small business (I think entrepreneurship is the key to success in America), reducing the tax burden through an efficient government, and their promotion of healthy families which I think is critical to the future of Black America.
I haven't settled on a candidate yet, but so far I'd say I'm leaning towards Obama. I would, however, like to see more details about how he intends to deliver on the promises he's making.
I feel that the Republicans have yet to produce a strong candidate, with the possible exception of Fred Thompson. Giuliani seems out of touch with the GOP, and even Thompson will have to overcome being a strong advocate for the war in Iraq. Nonetheless, it's going to be hard to sway voters on terrorism and immigration alone.
Has anyone decided yet? What are your thoughts?
