
Elizabeth City State ranked #21 in First AFCA Division II Coaches' Poll

WACO, TEX.-- Defending national champion Grand Valley State opens the season at No. 1 in the 2007 preseason American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches' Poll.
The Elizabeth City State University football has earned another pre-season recognition as they are tied at 21st in the first American Football Coaches Association Division II poll of 2007
This poll represents the fifth pre-season appearance for ECSU as it related to rankings. They also appeared in Street and Smith (12th), Lindy's (25th), D2Football.com (19th) and the Black College Sports Page (5th). The Vikings share the 21st slot with the Vulcans of the California University of Pennsylvania. ECSU is the only CIAA school to break into the AFCA's first top 25 while Fayetteville State, Saint Augustine's and Bowie State all received votes. The Vikings, who posted the best season in school history last year with a 9-3 mark, open up the season at home against Catawba College on September 1, 2007 at 6:00pm.
