Road Trip Contest
Official Rules
No Purchase Necessary
1. Eligibility
The Road Trip Contest (“Contest”) is open to persons 21-25 years of
age who are legal residents of the United States and who have graduated
from an historically African-American college or university. Employees of the
Ford Motor Company, the Urban Sports and Entertainment Group (“USEG”),
their affiliates, subsidiaries, their sales promotion and adverting agencies,
and members of their immediate families and those residing in the same
household are not eligible (collectively “Excluded Parties”). Void where
prohibited.
2. Description of the Contest
The contest is designed to reward the entrant who submits the best
essay and video, as determined by judging criteria set forth below. Two
winners will be selected to be the 2007 Ford Roadies and will travel to HBCU
Classic Games and Homecomings in select market at Sponsor's discretion.
3. How to Enter
Create an essay not to exceed one single-spaced page setting forth
what your attendance at an historically Black college or University (“HBCU”)
meant to you. Prepare a video not to exceed 60 seconds in which you state
orally what your attendance at an HBCU meant to you. Send both your
essay and video, along with a resume with business and personal references
to: Urban Sports and Entertainment Group, c/o Damon White, 19600 W.
Catawba Avenue, Suite 301-C, Cornelius, North Carolina 28031.
Submissions must be received by July 20, 2007. Sponsor is not responsible
for late, lost, misdirected or postage due mail.
4. Submission Requirements
Submissions (1) cannot be derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender,
religious, professional or age group; (2) must be original in all respects and
must not infringe upon the rights of any third parties; (3) must be timely
received to be considered.
5. Judging
The judging will be conducted in phases. All submissions will be
initially reviewed on the basis of the following criteria: (1) personality; (2)
presentation, and (3) compatibility. Two (2) finalists (“Finalists”) will be
chosen and notified by phone on or about August 3, 2007. Representatives
of USEG will contact the Finalists and conduct a phone interview. USEG will
determine which of the Finalists will receive a second interview and will
notify UniWorld Group/Ford (“UWG/Ford”). UWG/Ford will conduct a second
interview and will choose two winners. The winners and those not selected
will be notified by phone, email, or mail by USEG.
6. Prizes
Winners will travel to ten HBCU Classic Games and Homecomings in a
new Ford vehicle to select market at Sponsor's discretion. Sponsor will
provide meals, gas, hotel, entertainment and stipend/compensation of
approximately $10,000. Approximate retail value $36,000. Winners will be
required to execute an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and publicity
release (unless prohibited) which must be returned within 10 days of
notification.
7. Substitution; Taxes
No assignment or transfer of prizes will be permitted, except at
Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize
with one of comparable or greater value if advertised prize is unavailable.
WINNER IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL
TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF ANY PRIZE.
8. Potential Winner
(a) Release. By participating in this Contest or receiving a prize,
entrants agree to release and to indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor and
the Excluded Parties from any liability, injury, death, loss or damages to
entrant or any person or entity, including without limitation damage to
personal or real property, caused in whole or in part, directly or indirectly,
by participation in this Contest (or related activities) or the acceptance,
possession or use/misuse of a prize.
(b) Publicity. Except where prohibited, participation in this Contest
constitutes entrant’s consent to Sponsor and its agents’ to use entrant’s
name, business or company name, likeness, voice, opinions and biographical
information for publicity, advertising, trade or promotional purposes in any
media or manner, without further payment, consideration, notice or
approval, unless prohibited by law.
9. Conditions of Participation
Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion, to modify, cancel,
terminate, and/or suspend the Contest and to disqualify any individual who
tampers with the entry process, violates these official rules, or acts in a
disruptive or unsportsmanlike manner. Without limiting the foregoing,
Sponsor may lock out an entrant who, in Sponsor’s sole judgment, has been
disqualified, has questionable eligibility or is otherwise ineligible to enter.
Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the
printing of the offer, administration of the Contest or in the announcement
of the prize. If, for any reason, the program is not capable of running as
planned for any reason which corrupts or affects the administration,
security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, Sponsor
reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or
suspend the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right, but not the obligation, to
select winners from eligible entries received as of the termination date and
time.
10. Disputes/Choice Of Law.
Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that this Contest shall be
governed by the laws of the State of Michigan and: (1) any and all disputes,
claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or
any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form
of class action, and exclusively by state or federal courts situated in Detroit,
Michigan (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to
actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3)
no punitive, incidental, special, consequential or other damages, including
without limitation lost profits may be awarded (collectively, “Special
Damages”), and (4) entrant hereby waives all rights to claim Special
Damages and all rights to have such damages multiplied or increased.
11. Privacy
Personally identifiable information that is submitted by entrants as
part of this Contest will be used to administer the Contest, select prize
winner and fulfill prizes, and will be treated in accordance with Sponsor’s
privacy policy accessible on its website at www.fordroadtrip.com.
12. Winner’s Lists
For a list of winners, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope
to: Urban Sports and Entertainment Group, c/o Damon White, 19600 W.
Catawba Avenue, Suite 301-C, Cornelius, North Carolina 28031.
