AAMU Business Prof Receives Kauffman Fellowship
Huntsville, Ala. ---- An Alabama A&M University assistant professor of business has been awarded a coveted fellowship to attend a one-week entrepreneurship seminar.
Dr. Larry McDaniel has been awarded a fellowship by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to cover the cost of tuition to attend a week-long intensive Ph.D. seminar in entrepreneurship from August 13-17.
Because of the increased demand from students interested in becoming entrepreneurs, business schools around the world are searching for research faculty to teach entrepreneurship courses, said McDaniel. However, he noted that few universities have the expertise to train Ph.D. students to become entrepreneurship faculty. To overcome this problem, a select number of faculty and Ph.D. students have been invited to participate in a summer intensive Ph.D. seminar in entrepreneurship, led by Scott Shane.
The seminar will cover the major theoretical and methodological issues in the field. The seminar, previously offered on four occasions, has attracted participants from a variety of universities, including Columbia, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northwestern, Stanford and Wharton.
