Democrat-Republican '08 Presidential Candidate List (1892 hits)

With the April 25, 2007 official announcement of his bid for the U.S. Presidency, by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), here’s an update on the political figures reportedly pursuing the position of America’s next president. Also, please note that some of those listed may still be in the "exploratory" stage and have not made official announcements, to-date, about running for the presidency.

Also, as I stated in previous posts, this is my attempt to assist in the process of more "informed voting" choices.

So, if you choose, you can do your own Internet research and/or other forms of research on each of those individuals listed. And remember, it would also come in handy if you do a bit of research on the varying “issues” plaguing America, such as Iraq/troops situation, education, healthcare, and rates of unemployment, etc.

(THE LIST – Alphabetically by individual’s last name)
Democrats:
Joseph R. Biden Jr., Delaware senator
Chris Dodd, Connecticut senator
John Edwards, former North Carolina senator
Mike Gravel, former Alaska senator
Dennis Kucinich, Ohio congressman
Barack Obama, Illinois senator
Bill Richardson, New Mexico Governor
Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York senator
Tom Vilsack, Iowa Governor

Republicans:
Sam Brownback, Kansas Senator
Jim Gilmore, former Virginia governor
Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor
Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas Governor
Duncan Hunter, former chair of the House of Rep. Armed Services Committee
John McCain, Arizona senator
Mitt Romney, former Massachusetts Governor
Tom Tancredo, Colorado Representative
Tommy Thompson, former Wisconsin Governor

Independent:

Ralph Nader, reported consumer activist
-END-

Again, please allow the ISSUES to take precedence over personality. Personality or charisma will hopefully be part of a particular candidate’s overall package. You can check with your county’s Voter Registration Office for information.

P.S. If you haven’t already registered to vote, please do so – Some individuals might need to verify their respective voting districts, update addresses, etc. The earlier you check on your voting status, the less troublesome your voting experience will be in 2008.
