I’m sure most of you have heard by now that Brandy Norwood, R&B singer/actress who is more widely known simply by her first name only, “Brandy,” is reportedly involved in one of the most distressing situations of her life stemming from a fatal car crash that reportedly took place on Dec. 30.
This is just another situation wherein being a celebrity does not outweigh “real life” occurrences of misfortune. And, it also is a reminder that because we’re human, anything could happen to any one of us at any time. To put it another way, “Judge not lest ye be judged.”

The California Highway Patrol has recommended that R&B singer Brandy be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for her role in a four-car crash on the 405 Freeway that resulted in the death of a mother.
Prosecutors in the Los Angeles city attorney's office will review the evidence turned over by the CHP and determine whether to file charges, spokesman Nick Velasquez said today.
Because the city attorney's office only handles misdemeanors, the office could also refer the matter to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office if prosecutors determine that Brandy, whose full name is Brandy Norwood, should be charged with gross negligence, a felony.
The accident took place Dec. 30 on the northbound side of the 405 in Sherman Oaks, according to officials. The driver of the car that Norwood struck with her 2007 Land Rover, Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, died. Norwood, 27, was not injured.
Last week, Norwood's publicist issued a statement saying she wished to "express her condolences to the family of the deceased."
