Blacks Don't Read: Article by a Caucasian (2304 hits)

* I have not had the time to digest or read this article sent my way. I know plenty of folk here will have an opinion on this, look forward to joining You. Have to run, take care*

The article starts here:

BLACKS DON'T READ.

For those of you who heard it, this is the article Dee Lee was reading

this morning on a New York radio station. For those of you who didn't

hear it, this is very deep and true! BLACKS DON'T READ. This is a heavy

piece and a Caucasian wrote it.

THEY ARE STILL OUR SLAVES we can continue to reap profits from the

Blacks without the effort of physical slavery. Look at the current

methods of containment that they use on themselves: IGNORANCE, GREED,

and SELFISHNESS.

Their IGNORANCE is the primary weapon of containment. A great man once

said, 'The best way to hide something from Black people is to put it in

a book." We now live in the Information Age. They have gained the

opportunity to read any book on any subject through the efforts of

their fight for freedom, yet they refuse to read. There are numerous
books

readily available at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.com, not to

mention their own Black Bookstores that provide solid blueprints to

reach economic equality (which should have been their fight all along),

but few read consistently, if at all.

GREED is another powerful weapon of containment. Blacks, since the

abolition of slavery, have had large amounts of money at their

disposal.

Last year they spent 10 billion dollars during Christmas, out of Their

450 billion dollars in total yearly income (2.22%). Any of us can use

them as our target market, for any business venture we care to dream

up, no matter how outlandish, they will buy into it. Being primarily a

consumer people, they function totally by greed. They continually want

more, with little thought for saving or investing. They would rather

buy some new sneaker than invest in starting a business. Some even

neglect their children to have the latest Tommy or FUBU, and they still

think that having a Mercedes, and a big house gives them "Status" or

that they have achieved the American Dream. They are fools! The vast

majority of their people are still in poverty because their greed holds

them back from collectively making better communities. With the help of

BET, and the rest of their black media that often broadcasts

destructive images into their own homes, we will continue to see huge !
profits

like those of Tommy and Nike. Tommy Hilfiger has even jeered them,
saying he

doesn't want their money, and look at how the fools spend more with him

than ever before). They'll continue to show off to each other while we

build solid communities with the profits from our businesses that we

market to them.

SELFISHNESS, ingrained in their minds through slavery, is one of the

Major ways we can continue to contain them. One of their own, Dubois

said that there was an innate division in their culture. A "Talented

Tenth" he called it. He was correct in his deduction that there are

segments of their culture that has achieved some "form" of success.

However, that segment missed the fullness of is work. They didn't read

that the "Talented Tenth" was then responsible to aid the Non-Talented

Ninety Percent in achieving a better life, Inste! ad, that segment has

created another class, a Buppie class that looks down on their people

or aids them in a condescending manner. They will never achieve what we

have. Their selfishness does not allow them to be able to work together

on any project or endeavor of substance. When they do get together,

their selfishness lets their egos get in the way of their goal. Their

so-called help organizations seem to only want to promote their name

without making any real change in their community. They are content to

sit in conferences and conventions in our hotels, and talk about what

they will do, while they award plaques to the best speakers, not the

best doers. Is there no end to their selfishness? They steadfastly

refuse to see that TOGETHER EACH ACHIEVES MORE (TEAM)! They do not

understand that they are no better than each other of what they own in

fact, most of those Buppies are but one or two paychecks away from

poverty. All of which is under the control of our pens in our offices

and our rooms. Yes, we will continue to contain them as long as they

refuse to read, continue to buy anything they want, and keep thinking

they are "helping" their communities by paying dues to organizations

which do little other than hold lavish conventions in our hotels. By

the way, don't worry about any of them reading this letter, remember,

THEY DON'T READ!!!! BLACKS DON'T READ"

I heard this. It seems he has too much time on his hands to focus on this. Why don't he stop degrading and be positively constructive. It's so sad to see this is going on. Yet again, we are still behind the veil as Dubois states. I hate to say, but this guy has a point to a certain extent, but we already know this, we don't need him pointing it out. if he really paid attention, then he would see that there are individuals making a positive difference. The only problem is that the media is not focusing on it. If the media focused on it, there might be an air of awareness that might lead to change. That's why I love MBC or the Black family channel which shows "the future of black america".

Thanks Will

I think much of what this article says is true... many of the things discussed in this article are things that I have come to realize over the past year or so... not exactly that we are greedy and selfish, but rather misguided and uninformed. The media definitely has a lot to do with it. We are more consumed by our image and material things rather than education and long-term goals… of course this is not everyone, but the majority of today’s youth has not been taught the proper value system for the most part… I am also guilty of being overly materialistic, but I am trying to change that about myself and help spread the word to those around me… but whether you thinks this article is right or wrong, I think we can all agree that there is a problem, and it is our job to fix it… thanks for the info ~Brie~

Well Will.....this is interesting.....This article is very true though. Everyone on this sight has attained some form of education and some form of success, which would probably make us the Talented Tenth, but how many of us(generally speaking) are giving back into our communities. And most black people do not read, many students in high school graduate reading on a third grade level. Libraries, just one of the places we were banned from in the 50's and 60s, that our ancestors fought for us to be able to sit down and read a book, is the one place our children will not go to. They would rather go shopping or to the movies, or to a 50Cent concert. And we are about the 'Me and Mine' syndrome and some of us won't help our own families.
I can go on and on....on this topic. Although it is a very negative article, it is true. I believe we should work to change this and make a lie out of every other race, because they all see this but we don't.

Hey Candice, I have been trying to get back here for quite a while and catch up.
Apologies for the delay Sis as well as to all.

By the way I have emailed technical at this site and been going back and forth with my hotmail, I don't get notices any more for blog comments, GBook signs nor emails. I just happen to check in from time to time.
I am still dealing with hotmail and why I can't receive messages from here any longer. This is not the sites fault technical has worked with me on this problem and found out it is my own email account, I am thinking of changing to another email address anyway... Just wanted to let all know, I had forgotten to mention that fact.

Candice appreciate as always what you add to blogs and this is the 1st time I saw this article and felt it needed to be passed on for us to comment and deal with.
Yes this may be a fact but you know what, I wonder how many negatives the article of this article deals with in his own culture, feeln me?
I thought somewhere in the Bible there was scripture that states to start at home 1st or your own house????

Hey Ike, appreciate your insight Bro, please read the comments I posted to candice for the 2cents worth.

I had not had time to deeply view this article, I thought it was a white person that passed on, black people viewed it etc.
I agree with you on the aspects that this article is meant to spur us to action because from what I see in my immediate surroundings this is majority truth.
I guess I will get blasted like Bill Cosby is now huh?

Hey Brie, wow what honesty and I love the insight you add here.
By the way, if I were perfect, my articles would take on much less significance because I deal with me many times, feel me?
I hope to see you blog more on youth issues, what you state and add here, well it stands on its own as a blog.

Hey Vic (Hope you don't mind me calling you that Sis), very deep concepts you add and the history you add, well that gives this blog invaluable depth for all who will claim and receive it. All knowledge and wisdom comes from God anyway and it is up to us to keep it going as positive choice...
