KHRIS DAVIS OF OSCAR NOMINATED JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH TALKS "STEEL" WITH TANISHA LAVERNE GRANT (5147 hits)

Awards season is in full swing and the top of this year's oscar nominations is Judas and the Black Messiah. Directed by Shaka King, who was one of the four writers recognized for the film's script, Judas stars Daniel Kaluuya as Black Panther leader Fred Hampton, whose movement was infiltrated by the FBI and informant William O'Neal portrayed by Lakieth Stanfield. Fred Hampton, one of the most influential and powerful figures of the Black Panther party was murdered by police in 1969 at the age of 21. Stanfield and Kaluuya both earned acting Oscar nominations for their roles! Judas and the Black Messiah earned a total of six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Song. The movie is the first Best Picture nominee in the Oscars’ 93-year history to boast all Black producers.

In a conversation with multi award winning entertainment journalist Tanisha LaVerne Grant actor Khris Davis who like Tanisha graduated from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania the nation's oldest HBCU founded in 1837 talks with the journalist about his role as "Steel" a leader in the black community who later became a political prisoner.
