Texas Southern University to Host Virtual Tiger Day (3525 hits)

The Texas Southern University Office of Outreach Services is hosting a Virtual Tiger Day for prospective junior and senior high school students, and transfer students Thursday, October 29, 2020, and Friday, October 30, 2020. Event participants have the option to select a day that works for their schedule and will learn about the admissions process, how to apply for scholarships, student activities, the history of the University, and more. The event will give prospective students a snapshot of what life is like as a TSU student.

Traditionally hosted on campus, this year’s Tiger Day will be virtual. “We are incredibly excited to offer this opportunity to prospective students who could potentially join the TSU family,” said Dr. Teresa McKinney, vice president of the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management, “We want to provide the feel of what life would be like as a TSU student and the ways in which we will support their success.”

Dr. Brian Armstrong, executive director of Outreach Services, said participants will have several things to take away from the event. “We want students to take with them three unique aspects about TSU - TSU has an array of academic programs that will prepare our students for their academic field of interest, the campus is located in the heart of Houston, one of the nation's largest and diverse cities, and our campus administrators, faculty and staff are prepared to assist students achieve success during their time at TSU,” said Armstrong.

Eddie Davenport, assistant director of Outreach Services, wants students to know that their four-year experience will be seamless.

“This is the time where students are introduced to this historic University along with meeting our supportive faculty and staff and seeing our beautiful campus,” said Davenport, “We start from application to graduation, focusing on the entire process!”

Participants are encouraged to register before the 8 a.m. Thursday, October 29 deadline.
