The members of the Sigma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated are proud to announce our 5th Annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) College Fair to be held in Raleigh, North Carolina, Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on the campus of Needham Broughton High School in the Holiday Gymnasium. Last year, this FREE College Fair brought over 325 students together to learn about a variety of HBCUs!
The members of the Sigma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are extending an invitation to the students and parents from North Carolina high schools, church or community groups to participate in our college fair.
We will have workshops and informational sessions on “Paying for College”, “The College Experience” featuring a panel of recent HBCU graduates, and our new program College Admissions Process (CAP). We have invited high school students from many counties in North Carolina, church youth groups, community youth organizations, such as the Dream Academy of Cary, Boys and Girls Club, and Upward Bound Programs, as we seek to introduce high school and middle school students to the ins and outs of preparing for college life.
Last year approximately 26 HBCUs from across the nation attended this event. Several HBCUs provided on site admissions, scholarship, and financial aid information. It is our hope to “leave no stone unturned” about what HBCUs can provide students and their families for a successful college experience.
