Because our ancestors came from Africa, we are of African descent. We are very much Americans. Black is the color of our skin. I consider myself to be both.

Like Seneeqah said, people from any ethnicity can be African. As for African American, we are Americans, so the logical answer would be AA. I wonder what are we called in Britain or Canada? African British? African Canadian? I'll ask the next coalition partner I see when I am about this evening.

I tend to disagree with being refered to as black. Black is a color and just as I prefer not to call someone white, red, yellow or brown, I do not like being refered to as Black. Plus, I am more caramel or paper-bag brown. LOL
