Officials with Alabama State University and Trenholm State Community College (TSCC) will meet on Monday (Feb. 18) at 10 a.m. for a news conference to announce and sign an agreement that provides a pathway for qualified Trenholm State students who have earned an associate’s degree to enroll for study at ASU to achieve a bachelor’s degree.

Both ASU President, Dr. Quinton T. Ross Jr., and Trenholm State President Sam Munnerlyn will meet in the Trenholm State Community College Auditorium (Patterson Campus, Building-D, 3920 Troy Highway) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will allow all interested and qualified Trenholm State students who meet identified criteria an effortless transfer process to the four-year university.

"This soon to be signed joint Memorandum of Understanding between Alabama State University and Trenholm State Community College will give interested students at Trenholm an opportunity to participate in a seamless enrollment, which means that qualified students may take classes at Trenholm and ASU at the same time," said Dr. Tanjula Petty, executive director of Research, Assessment & Evaluation at ASU's office of Institutional Effectiveness.

Petty said the MOU allows a student who has started on their two-year degree at Trenholm to have a way to obtain their four-year degree at ASU.

"This agreement by President Ross and President Munnerlyn forms a bridge that allows a Trenholm State student to pursue a higher education degree at ASU," said Petty.

“This is a great initiative for our community to have two great institutions to come together and develop a pathway to support students who desire to continue their education. By signing this agreement, ASU and TSCC are promoting educational progression to support central Alabama, and provide students with a great opportunity to articulate and achieve greater heights in their education and careers,” said Petty. "After all, we are all about helping out the students."
