Oakwood Acquires Virtual Dissection Table for Biological Sciences Department (2531 hits)

by Stanton Dulan, M.D. of Oakwood University

Human gross anatomy at OU has been on the cutting edge for over 30 years by using cadaver dissections routinely as an instructional tool. Only a few select undergraduate institutions in the entire country provide this opportunity.

We have now added a virtual dissection table by Anatomage that will continue to give Oakwood students interested in medicine, dentistry, and graduate school, the very best opportunity for success. In fact, some medical schools are still working to attain this technology.

Dr. Stanton Dulan demonstrates the use of the new Anatomage Table to students and administrators yesterday in the Department of Biological Sciences.

Oakwood's students will now be able to perform virtual dissections, isolate structures, view CT scans, and complete quizzes with the swipe of a finger. This will lessen the preparatory phase for real dissection and will enable the use of four additional virtual cadavers for increased learning. In this way, OU students will continue use the best available tools for learning for the future.

The Anatomage Table has been described as the most technologically advanced anatomy visualization system on the market. It is both a virtual library of human and animal cadavers, as well as a clinical diagnostic tool by visualization of any Medical CT, CBCT or MRI scan.
