Destination HBCU: HBCU College Fair This November! (5184 hits)

The HBCU Alumni of Cleveland is proud to present the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) College Fair! This event continues to be the largest HBCU recruitment event in Ohio. It’s more than a college fair – it’s an expo of programs, services and resources for students to succeed.

The festivities will begin with the HBCU Destination Reception, bringing together local area educators, school counselors, principals and superintendents with HBCU admission counselors, advocates and alumni on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Following the reception, this two-day event takes place on Friday, November 16, 2018 and Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Cleveland Metropolitan School District East Professional Center (1349 E 79th St, Cleveland, OH 44103) and Warrensville Heights High School (4270 Northfield Road, Warrensville Heights, OH 44128), respectively.

The fair has been organized by the Cleveland Council of Black Colleges Alumni Association. This impressive group is comprised of graduates and supporters of any accredited public or private HBCUs that reside in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area. In its humble beginnings, the fair was primarily supported by a few alumni chapters and reached a meager audience of less than 200 people in the basement of the Antioch Baptist Church or the former African American Museum of Cleveland. Now the event attracts office of admissions personnel, major sponsors, and national attention.

Also, thanks to the generous support of our Program Partners, we are offering eligible 12th grade students, recent high school graduates, & college transfer student that registers for the 2018 Destination HBCU College Fair, the opportunity to complete the Common HBCU application for admission at no cost (during the event). The Council is proud to continue this collaboration to provide opportunities for students throughout the greater Cleveland area. Students will be able to apply to over 50 select Historically Black Colleges & Universities absolutely “FREE.” That’s an initial savings of $35.00, with an overall saving of more than $1500.00, if the student were to apply to each school individually.
