1. Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?
I am from Orlando, Fl. My friends that attended FAMU as well as my aunt who attended BCC.
2. Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?
I chose a HBCU because I have attended predominately white schools from kindergarten to twelfth grade. I felt it necessary to be surrounded with those who are more like me and gain more knowledge about my history as a Black woman.
3. What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?
My first time experience was rocky. It took a lot of prayer, encouragement, and dedication for me to stick with my school of choice. The environment was a lot different from what I was used to but the experience is one I will never forget and I wouldn’t regret attending FAMU at all.
4. "First time" experiences at your HBCU?
My first time experience was a major adjustment considering I attending predominantly white schools my whole life, but I can say the knowledge I’ve gained with my years at Florida A & M will stick with for years to come. The history I’ve learned about and the friends and faculty I’ve had the honor of building relationships with will be unforgettable. In the end I was very happy about my decision.
5. Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?
Dr. Clifton Brown had the greatest impact on my life in and out of the classroom. He not only taught the curriculum but also life lessons we all needed. He taught us how to be confident in whatever we do and always aim to be the greatest at whatever you do.
He was a tough professor but the challenge only made you a better student.
