Attention HBCU Colleges and Universities: Apply Now to Host 2019 Mandela Washington Fellows (4081 hits)

The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (https://yali.state.gov/mwf/), is now seeking qualified U.S.–based colleges, universities, and organizations to implement six-week Leadership Institutes in summer of 2019.

Institute Partners will host 25 Fellows in mid-June through July 2019 for a non-credit, non-degree, six-week Institute in one of three themes: Leadership in Business, Leadership in Civic Engagement, or Leadership in Public Management. The Institute model will combine intensive academic coursework, leadership training, community service activities, site visits, professional networking opportunities, and cultural enrichment to maximize professional adult learning and cultural exchange.

The Fellows, who are between the ages of 25 and 35, have established records of accomplishment in promoting innovation and positive change in their organizations, institutions, and communities, and come from all 49 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Each of the 700 Fellows selected for the 2019 Fellowship will hone their skills through a six-week Leadership Institute at an accredited U.S. college or university, a Summit in Washington, D.C., and some will engage in professional placements across the country. The Fellowship also provides Fellows with support for professional development after they return home.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by IREX. Please visit IREX’s website for details on the Request for Proposal (RFP).
