After posting the best times and distances in the NAIA, Natasha Poleon (JR/Vieux Fort, St. Lucia) wins Red River Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week and Taishia Pryce (SO/Kingston, Jamaica) wins Field Athlete of the Week for March 19-25.
Poleon won the 100-meter dash at the University of Texas-Arlington Bobby Lane Invitational last Saturday with a NAIA best time of 11.81. She defeated 34 runners – which were mostly from NCAA Division I and II schools. She posted a NAIA Championship qualifying time of 24.38 – which ranks first in the country.
This was Poleon's third Track Athlete of the Week award. She previously won for the weeks of February 26- March 5 and March 12-18. The Lady Wildcats have won four Track Athlete of the Week awards this season. Renae Dennie (JR/Harbour View, Jamaica) won for March 5-11.
Pryce set a new Wiley College record with a leap of 6.45 meters in the long jump Saturday. She conquered 26 athletes – mostly from NCAA Division I and II schools. Pryce – who is a returning NAIA All-American will compete in the event at the 2018 NAIA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She is the third Lady Wildcat to win Field Athlete of the Week this season. Alisha St. Louis (SO/Trinidad and Tobago) won for February 26-March 4. Shaiann Charles (SO/Trinidad and Tobago) won for March 5-11.
Poleon and Pryce's honors gives Wiley College 35 Red River Athletic Conference Players of the Week in all sports combined – which leads the conference
