To kick-off the celebration of ASU's Founders' Week, the news media is invited to join and cover ASU President Quinton T. Ross, Jr. and a room full of elementary school students as he shares the gift of reading with them in their classroom as part of Alabama State University's Read & Rise Montgomery Program at the E.D. Nixon Elementary School. He will do so at 10 a.m. at the school, which is located at 1000 E.D. Nixon Ave. in Montgomery, Ala. A significant part of Alabama State University’s mission is to help advance its local community, state and nation through thoughtful outreach and public service events, which lifts-up the community and its residents. As part of its Founders’ Week Celebration this week, ASU is sponsoring its Read & Rise Montgomery Program simultaneously with other members of the ASU/Hornet Nation family who will also be reading books to elementary school students at 17 other (18 total) Montgomery schools, which will include over 300 active elementary student classrooms.

So join us and President Quinton Ross at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Nixon Elementary School (and a room-full of cute and eager to learn elementary school kids) as ASU promotes reading and thanks the community during its sesquicentennial (150 years as a school) Founders' Week Celebration!
