Alabama State University College of Business Administration (COBA ) seniors Zackary Bennett (Computer Information Systems), Hunter Phillips (Computer Information Systems), and Breana Rucker (Management) participated in the National Black MBA Association's Undergraduate Case Competition, competing against 14 other schools, and "showed," winning third-place and collecting a $5,000 prize. Indiana University won first place followed by South Carolina State University in second place, and Clark Atlanta University in fourth place.
In the competition - that took place in Philadelphia, PA - the ASU students were tasked with analyzing the current state of a Canadian airline, and recommending a social media marketing strategy to improve its sales. The COBA students called themselves 'Hornet Hive Consulting.' The ASU team also won "fan favorite" and each member earned an Amazon gift card for $50.
The business case was sponsored by Delta Airlines. Following the competition, the students attended a career/job fair convention, which included over 300 Fortune 500 companies, which included Facebook, IBM, Coca-Cola, and BlackRock.
