Register Your Kids for ASU's ‘Piano for Children’ Classes!
- The nine-week classes are for children ages 6 - 12 years old and begin on Oct. 3. -

WHEN: Classes will take place at 5 p.m. from Oct. 3 - Nov.29.
WHERE: ASU's Tullibody Music Building, Room 305; it's on North University Drive.

Does your child have an aptitude for music or show a propensity for creative outlets in their young lives? If so or if you would like them to broaden their horizons with some musical structure in their lives, then you need to look into Alabama State University’s Department of Music's "Piano for Children" introductory piano classes. It is geared for local kids (ages 6 to 12 years-old) and the classes begin on Oct. 3, in Room 305 at ASU's Tullibody Music Building.

All classes are held after 5 p.m. with its beginning classes held on Tuesdays and its intermediate level classes conducted on Wednesdays.

Designed for young pianists, the beginning level class will work to develop students’ musical skills related to rhythm and pitch, as well as introduce them to basic techniques in playing the piano and in reading music notation. The intermediate level students will develop their music skills and move forward into a more challenging repertoire.

COLLEGE LEVEL INSTRUCTORS
ASU faculty music experts Dr. Adonis Gonzalez, an assistant professor of piano, and Dr. Michael Zelenak, an assistant professor of music education, will teach the classes. The nine-week program will culminate with a recital performance on Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Recital Hall in ASU's Tullibody Music Building.

The cost for the “Piano for Children” classes is only $99 per student. Participants should bring their payment, made payable to Alabama State University Foundation, on the first day of class, which is Oct. 3.
