On Friday, September 1, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a block party celebration at 26th Street and North Palace Avenue. This celebration will highlight the completion of the 26th, Palace and Grand project as part of the Texas College District. Texas College and the City of Tyler are sponsoring the event.
Pokey O’s ice cream food truck, snow cones and other refreshments will be provided. One-way parking will be routed to Tenneha Avenue and North Palace Avenue. There will also be performances by the Texas College Concert Choir & the Texas College Marching Band.
Before this project, 26th Street did not connect between North Palace Avenue and Tenneha Avenue. Upon completion of the project, 26th Street now acts as a connection road from Grand Avenue and Broadway Avenue which gives direct access to Texas College. Sidewalks were also added on Grand and Palace Avenue to improve pedestrian connectivity in the area. The project also included Texas College District Signage and new district lighting.
