Here’s a short recap of my activities this week

Management Team Meeting - I attended the Management Team meeting to discuss topics related to the Leadership Council meeting, the College budget, and the System’s Legislative priorities, as well as strategic priorities of the College and issues related to internal operations of the College.

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Leadership Council Meeting - I attended a Leadership Council meeting along with the other presidents of Minnesota State institutions and members of Chancellor Rosenstone’s staff. We discussed progress with finances, incentives for collaboration, comprehensive workplace solutions model, annual presidential work plan, ISRS Next Gen, long term financial sustainability and Enterprise Wide Administrative System and Related Funding, joint marketing, Capital Funding and priorities, and operating budget outlook

District Energy St. Paul and Ever-Green Energy – I attended the Ever-Green Energy and District Energy St. Paul board meeting and we discussed strategic planning and their visions for the future. In the district energy field, District Energy St. Paul is considered the most notable in the United States for its use of renewable energy sources and implementation of energy conservation measures.

Central Corridor Anchor Partnership – I attended the Central Corridor Anchor Partnership (CCAP) Executive Committee meeting to discuss and promote workforce system strategies for the healthcare occupational sector.

Leadership Saint Paul “Education Day” - I gave the welcome keynote for Leadership Saint Paul Education Day 2017 for the morning session at the College. and participated in the panel conversation addressing the relationship between economic prosperity, economic mobility, and higher education. Leadership Saint Paul introduces leaders from all sectors of the community to topics of importance to connect with other leaders, cultivate skills and knowledge, and contribute to the vitality of the Saint Paul/East Metro area. Annual Development Conference - I along with the Interim Executive Director of Friends of Saint Paul College foundation, Minnesota State presidents and development executives attended the Annual Development Conference at the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System Office. We learned the power and influence of clear and concise communication as well as story-telling.

I will end this week’s blog by sharing an interaction I had with a student. He told me that he felt our Saint Paul College faculty are really committed to connecting to students, and that our faculty find ways to create the "ah-ha moment" for students. This student stated that he never experienced this type of learning at a neighboring four-year institution! What a testament to dedication and commitment of our faculty

Our faculty inspire and ignite the fire of knowledge in our students.

I wish you a relaxing weekend.

Best, Rassoul Dastmozd, PhD
