Jasher Cox, former Assistant Commissioner of Communications and Broadcasting at the Horizon League, has been named Sports Information Director at Tuskegee University. Cox brings over 18 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics to the department.

“I am happy to have someone of Jasher’s character, experience and professionalism joining the athletic staff.” Director of Athletics Curtis Campbell said. “Athletic communications is a vital component to the success of our department and I have no doubt he will be a tremendous asset to our scholar-athletes, coaches and fans”.

During his time at the Horizon League, Cox led the communications staff as well as the league’s creation and deployment of all ESPN streaming content. He served as the primary liaison to all broadcasting partners ensuring contract fulfillment, broadcast oversight and quality control management.

Along with Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and the Horizon League, Cox assisted in co-hosting the first and second rounds of the 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional at Bankers Life Field House.

Before joining the Horizon League, Cox served as the Director of Communications at the Southwestern Athletic Conference. He managed all aspects of the SWAC Digital Network in addition to being the main communications contact for men’s basketball, football and golf. He administered the entire media relations department and volunteers while also maintaining the official SWAC website and sponsorship packages. Cox assisted in restructuring the league’s football media day which now has a live stream and radio row.

Prior to his role at the SWAC, Cox was the Athletics Communications Assistant at Alabama State University. He was the primary communications contact for men’s basketball, soccer and softball. While at ASU, he launched all of the University’s athletic social media platforms and initiated effective social media tactics for coaches and student-athletes within the programs.

Earlier in his career, Cox was a photojournalist and sports producer for CBS 8 WAKA in Montgomery, Ala.. He covered local sports along with Southeastern Conference news and was the producer of the evening newscast. He covered the annual SEC Football Media Days as well as the 2005 Sugar Bowl and 2008 FBS National Championship.

His first career opportunity came in 1999 as a columnist for Inside the Auburn Tigers Magazine. He would later be given an opportunity to become co-host of a regional sports call-in show centered in Auburn known as Sports Call.

As an undergraduate, he was the official voice at his alma mater Auburn University for the Tigers’ softball and volleyball teams. Today Cox still has SEC ties as he moderates all post game press conferences at its annual baseball tournament in Hoover.
