
Hampton, VA - Daniel Rutherford Wilson has been appointed the Director of Alumni Affairs at Hampton University. In this role Wilson will lead the efforts of the alumni relations office in recruiting and retaining active participation of the schools 25,000 alumni worldwide.
Wilson, the youngest Director of Alumni Affairs in the school's history, has been an active alumnus since graduation and recently served as the President of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the National Hampton Alumni Association, Inc. Wilson graduated from Hampton University in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in English.
Prior to joining Hampton, Wilson served as Director of Policy Development and Special Assistant to the President and CEO of the National Caucus and Center on Black Aged, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-income African-American and minority seniors.
Wilson's political experience includes an appointment from then President Bill Clinton as a public affairs officer in the Office of Management and Budget. Wilson has also held several positions on Capitol Hill including staff assistant to New York Senator Charles E. Schumer and regional finance coordinator for the Democratic Campaign Committee under the leadership of New York Congresswoman Nita M. Lowey.
