Emmy Award-winning stage, film and television actress whose Broadway and Off-Broadway performances include A Raisin in the Sun (1959), Purlie Victorious (1961) and Boesman and Lena (1970). Her films include Do the Right Thing (1989), and for television, Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years (1999). She was married to actor Ossie Davis from 1948 until his death in 2005.
