I have learned so much from my Dog that I got for my Ex and ended being stuck with.
I could not leave him when I wanted to and when I did, I had a bad dream, called, he had nearly hung himself from being on a chain in my neighbors yard and I came back from the Atl area to get him. Needless to say, the book agent who was putting me up at a apartment was not thrilled that I would not leave waycross for him...
I have learned about "Agape Love", he loves me anyway whenever I am not in a good mood.
I have learned that there is a difference between a human doing and a human being.
King lays across my feet when I am sitting up reading or looking at t.v.
He will lay across my shoes when I leave them out, I guess a connection thing.
My neighbor Pop an elderly white guy comes to get him from the house and has him out when I come home at the end of the day. I like it when he runs out his yard and jumps around...
We have a routine, he likes doggy bones at night with ice. Started that with him as a pup.
We have eye language.
I never could have him neutered, I could never have him tied down on a chain and I taught him to walk off a lease and I love to see him run in open wooded areas, free.
He went through all the stages dead on time and I commended him when he barked for the 1st time at the age of 5 months, raised his leg to urinate at 9 months, recently he scratched durt after urinating(happens around 3 yrs) to mark his territory, I was wondering whether he would do that or not, I exclaimed, You are a man now.
I thought to myself when he was a pup does this dog know what Love is? I said the word and he to this day just gets excited trying to stand up and hug, kiss on me(I always tell him no licking!!!) etc.
He will dance around if I am dancing to music.
The time I saw him chase off another dog at 5 months or when he went at it with this big chow that to protect me made me realize the power and dedication of a Dog. I had never had a dog before.
King comes to me at night time to go to bed and asks for his chain to be taken off at nighttime and to put it on in the mornings(His chain is blue to being my favorite color).
We wrestle tough. I know he is a mle and I don't let him around any dogs, Vet bills.
A dog has medical records which totally shocked me!
I had to learn to get up in the a.m. earlier to take him out, had never had a dog, let alone a dog being in the house.
I ran across scripture that tells a person is wicked or righteous according to how one treats his beast.
I give him the best of dog food, mix it with meat and warm water for gravy etc.
Yes he is spoiled but very obedient. He sits, lays down, rolls over stands, always has to rub his paws when being rubbed, shakes hands etc. Much of what I did not teach him. He is a super brilliant Dog that even dislikes cold weather as I hate it. A dog can stand cold extemes and he has been in cold weather especially when I was awy in Atl, but he is used to warmth.
King will come to me at night to be petted before he lays down to go to sleep but arouses at my least movement.
King can hear a cat across the street.
Many people are crazy about my dog but can't have him.
A big thing I learned was that I was not my father, I could not leave him and understand why so many people refused to leave their animals during the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
I can say so much more but have to go now to a 9 a.m. meeting.
