Texas Southern University ranks in top 100 for available student scholarship (1335 hits)

Texas Southern University has been ranked 97th on the GoodCall 2016 Best Colleges and Universities for Scholarships report. The top 500 of more than 4,000 public institutions across the country were listed according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

TSU’s high ranking was due to a large amount of scholarship dollars awarded per enrolled student. Texas Southern had $43,800,575 in available scholarships or $4,361 per enrolled student. The data was based on an enrollment of 10,044 students in 2014.

The average college tuition is $9,139 and $22,958 for in-state and out-of-state students at public four-year colleges, respectively, according to the College Board. Student debt is rising and many students are turning to scholarships to fund their education. The GoodCall ranking shows the amount of scholarship dollars available to students when the average student loan debt is at an all-time high.
