Alabama State University Business Students Win First Place at UA Culverhouse Leadership Competition (937 hits)

Business students from Alabama State University's College of Business Administration brought home the "gold" as they won the First Place Award (and a $5,000 prize) in the 2016 Culverhouse Leadership Diversity Competition, which was held at The University of Alabama.

The annual competition is open only to a select number of students at undergraduate institutions and provides an opportunity for university students to transfer what they have learned in the classroom into solving real-world business problems.

The winning ASU team is known as the "Hornet Executives" and it is comprised of four team members, which includes:

Richmond Pierce, a junior majoring in management;
Menyon Goodou, a senior majoring in management;
Gabrielle Delaine, a junior majoring in management;
Rachel Kazungu, a senior majoring in finance.

The "Hornet Executives" competed against students from eight other schools from across the United States, which included Tulane University, Stillman College, Tuskegee University, Rhodes College, Alabama A&M University, Rust College, Tougaloo College and Xavier University.

The faculty advisor for the winning Hornet team was Dr. Edward Brown, an assistant professor in COBA, who encouraged and coached the team. “The more we expose our students, the better prepared they will be for the challenges of this global-networked business world," Brown said.
