Dr. Fatemeh Zakery, Dean of the Anheuser-Busch School of Business at Harris-Stowe State University and chair of the Global Business Education Committee represented HSSU at the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Dr. Zakery presented a paper during the Thought Leader Session titled “The Impact of Recent Migrations on the Global (and in Particular European) Economy and Business Community.” The ACBSP 2015 Annual International Business Conference took place in Barcelona Spain, November 24-27, 2015.

In the role as dean of the business school, her vision is to articulate and implement strategic and programmatic development, create and manage expansion of the business school’s growth, and to foster and execute a competitive position of the business school within the academic community.

“It was a wonderful experience representing Harris-Stowe at this global business conference, which helped to introduce our university to an international audience of academic and business leaders,” Zakery said. “There was quite a lot of positive feedback from the global economic presentation that will yield favorable outcomes as we continue to expand study abroad opportunities for Harris-Stowe students.”

Zakery, a Fulbright scholar has more than 30 years of teaching, administrative and consulting experience and has taught at all levels from the associate to doctorate programs in both traditional and online platforms. To that extent, she cultivates and maintains close ties with national corporations and government agencies to close the gap between the academic environment and the business industries. As chair of the Global Business Education committee of ACBSP, Zakery reaches out to colleges and universities overseas to further collaborative education, research and business practices.

Harris-Stowe State University has a partnership with Ningbo University in Zhejiang China that will facilitate HSSU students’ participation in an exchange program financed by the Chinese government. There are also plans for HSSU students to engage in global experiences at universities on the African continent.

“I am delighted to participate in these opportunities to bring together faculty and students from one part of the world to collaborate with others in a different part of the world,” Zakery said. “Becoming a responsible global citizen and exchanging ideas and information with their counterparts from all corners of the world is a unique advantage for Harris-Stowe students.”
