Here's a ranking of the starting salaries of HBCU grads
By Ebony C. Fleming
When approaching graduation, soon-to-be college grads must face the pressure of ending their academic career on a high note, and the bewildering task of landing a position that will pay them enough to not only survive, but pay off mounting student debt.
According to the Institute for College Access & Success, seven in 10 college students who graduate from public and nonprofit colleges in 2013 had an average student loan debt of $28,000, that's per student. A more recent report puts the class of 2015 owing a little more than $35,000...and it's expected to rise for future graduates.
The interesting (and disheartening) issue: the average starting salary for new grads breaking into the workforce, $49,035. And while this is not a terrible salary, grads are facing debts more than half their salaries.
A recent analysis of starting salaries specifically looked at graduates of historically black colleges and universities and compared those numbers to student's average tuition. The study took into account in-state versus out-of-state tuition. No trend was found, not even comparing private versus public institutions.
