Board Chairman Glenn O. Lewis to Give Founders Day Address on September 10, at Texas Southern University (1133 hits)

No one can tell the story about the renaissance of Texas Southern University better than Glenn O. Lewis. And the “O” stands for extremely "Optimistic”. As chairman of the TSU Board of Regents since 2007, Lewis now knows more about the university than perhaps most of its previous chairs. He has a vibe that’s almost automatic. He reconnects former students and graduates to the university – many times if they do not have their business cards on them – he grabs whatever is available to write on…program booklets, paper napkins, handkerchiefs, and scrap paper...sometimes committing the information to memory.

Chairman Lewis came to the University with a stellar career in public service and law. His appointment to the Board of Regents followed his leadership as Chairman of the Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee for Texas Southern University established by Texas Governor Rick Perry. Lewis served for ten years in the Texas House of Representatives from the ninety-fifth district in Tarrant County. During that first term, his colleagues in The House honored him by voting him The Outstanding Freshman of the Seventy-Fourth Session of the Texas Legislature. His leadership roles included serving as Chairman of the Committee on County Affairs, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, Vice-Chairman of the Tarrant County Legislative Delegation and as Vice-Chairman of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus.

A long-standing supporter of causes in his local community, Chairman Lewis is a member of The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, The Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and The Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce where he served six years as Chairman of its Board of Directors. He is a member of The Board of Directors and The Corporate Leadership Council of The Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he has been a member of The Board of Directors of United Way of Tarrant County and the board of directors of the Downtown Fort Worth Tax Increment Financing District.
Chairman Lewis is currently a partner in the law firm of Linebarger Goggan Blair and Sampson. Prior to joining this firm, he practiced law with his brother, Judge Terry Lewis (deceased), in the Fort Worth firm of Lewis and Lewis.

Founders Day 2015 is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., in Granville Sawyer Auditorium on campus.
