The lessons of Rebekah (337 hits)

One of the deepest scriptures to me about relationships that is a huge paradigm for Men and for Women

Gen 24:64 "And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off her camel.

With so many deep minds here I hope to see You add Your brilliance here instead of breaking down this scripture by myself that I saw as so significant today.

Blessings to all
Sincerely
William

Hi William!! I truly believe that this was honest to God love at first sight. It was destined by God from the beginning as much prayer had gone forth from Isaac's house from both his mother and his father and even the servant. The servant did not set out on his journey for Isaac's wife before praying and asking God for guidance and blessings. It was all lined up perfectly. I am an old fashioned woman when it comes to my husband so I believe that she got down from her camel with not only love and admiration in her eyes, but respect for this man as her husband and 'king' in her heart.

Thanks for the scripture, William.

Hey Dominique, hope all has been going well for You Sis.
You have a very deep mind. I thought about this concept also coincidentally.

Rebekah had to be dealing with hard times in a land of lawlessness, idolatry etc.
In the book of genesis, there is the story of how Lot the Nephew of Abraham had to struggle off gangs of males who came to his house to inquire about 2 men who had came to visit that were actually angels. The gang of males were all homos*xual and wanted to rape the angels. Lot offered his 2 virginal young 12 to somewhere in their teenage years to the males who did not want them, they finally accpeted them and brutilized them in un natural ways if You feel me.
If most of the land was homos*xual, you can imagine what the normal relations for women were and sodomy was the craze.
So here goes Rebekah, pure in a harsh land with know moral laws or integrity.
And women say a good man is hard to find, they talk about the down low, well all that was going on in Genesis, there is nothing new under the sun.
Like today, rebekah was probably teased, we can view our experiences on trying to do the right things and how many people react and do. The Bible cannot add everything, we have to do our homework and sum up the extra details.
Rebekah grew up like this.
Remember also polygamy was going on and this was encouraged by males and females, but Rebekah...
The Bible is real and deep, it is the shallow folks that want to present all the sweet things but not show "God" through the negative of what people do, feel me?
I can add much more, but You presented a deep point that many do not see.
Awesome Sis, proud of You as always and keep up the great work You do.
By the way what You presented came from within and not just by osmosis.
Wow.

Mo You are a awesome Sistah.

I used to say there was not a such thing as Love at 1st sight, but there is lust at 1st site. I used to tell people that and get them to agree with me.

This scripture clearly shows that this was a Spiritual love at 1st site.
I honestly did not think of this concept. Deep and thank you for adding that richness Sis.

Also Rebekah was ready and Isaac was also.
There was no lets date and do all this and that and see how it goes. They knew and parents experience played a hand. Remember back then girls got married 12 years old and into teen years.

By the way if we look at one of the #1 problems in the world where the divorce rates in my eyes are above 70%(many are together but sleep in seperate rooms and do their won things), what is called old fashion I call integrity, morals, chivalry etc.
Ageless concepts.

Also Rebekah had a great attitude, truth be told, there are many who complain about not having a good significant other but their attitudes are even worse. many brutha's can testify that to give a compliment or be chivalrous to quite a few is considered flawed, weak, a push over or the female responds with much attitude.
Also materialism has much to play with that. Rebekah knew Isaac was secure.
The blingbling of today is not what Isaac had, no gold grills, Beamers, Jewelry etc. But Rebekah... Left wealth because Isaac had much more to give via the "Lord".
Also Isaac was a bold man and approached what was his and took it from Laban (what Kin was he to Rebekah?).
Isaac followed a proper tradition of respect. Isaac used brains and brawn as need, he was courageous and spoke up for himself and what he wanted.
Much of society today discourages that and mocks that because those qualities mdon't exist via choice in most people and when 1 sees this in a person it intimidates many...

By the way Sis, awesome point, prayer, a calling, EFFORT on both points, unblinded eyes etc.etc.etc. were involved.

I tell people often that most people miss their calling and are not with the person that was meant for them, the equal match.
I also tell people be what you ask for and the significant other will match and exceed.
Rebekah was Isaac's match and Isaac sat her down to provide for her...
I can write on this for a while, as I stated as the book of Genesis is the book of beginnings, this scripture is key for all real people that want a real relationship.
Most people do not want what they say and don't want to put in the work.
Much more can be said in reference to all the paradigms presented here........................................
Appreciate as always Mo!
Thanks for enriching this blog from a Womans perspective.
Does anyone ever wonder where are the guys to add the knowledge but the quickest to respond (both s*xes) to the butt call stuff(for lack of better words) and also the most complaintive about what this and what that in relationships?
Think about it being evenly yoked means...
Bad is bad and good is good.
Anyway, hope I'm being felt here.
Especially since all people with the exception of a few state hoping for that great relationship.
By the way this scripture also states a lot about relationship with "God".
If Your relationship with "God" is not straight and he is the blueprint of all success, then how are certaion people perplexed why earthly not working.
Hmmm the old saying "fool me once shame on You fool me twice..."

Sometimes we may miss our calling, but we were not ready for it because we couldn't see it. When we are where God wants us to be, everything will follow afterwards. My father told me God is like a parent who wants what is best for us.

Our society tells us at a certain age we should be this and that at a certain time in our life. God does not work that way, it is in his time. Good Blog. God Bless

Hey Candice, I agree 100% with You.
I happened to see Juanita Bynum speak last night on TBN and also others who spoke of being Blessed anyway, out of the box etc.
Juanita stated what I had stated in an earlier blog about people try to control, there are more than 1 way of doing things etc.
Anyway, this is what I do on here to show negatives in my life, show a view of my past that is in general to many people and use it for the good.
TD Jakes stated how does one see "God" in your life if you are not telling them anything to show how "God" has Blessed you.
A lot of fake folk facades prsent these wonderful life pictures that are not so.
How do we learn about "God"? Trials and trigulations, not lies, deceit and smoke screens that seem wonderful but they stink if You feel me.
To be real is difficult in todays world when the ones that lie to people are the ones that do the most messing up of lives.
Anyway Sis, You know I appreciate You as always.
Blessings to you also Sis.
