Pair of Young Men, One of Them 18, Charged with Killing Terrell Pough

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A car donated to a young father who gained national attention through a People magazine profile helped nab two men suspected of killing him, police said.

On Wednesday, the two suspects -- Antoine Lee Riggins, 20, and Saul Rosario, 18, both of Philadelphia -- were charged with murder, theft and related counts in the fatal shooting of Terrell Pough, 18, who was gunned down outside his home on Nov. 17.

The arrests were announced in an evening news conference where Philadelphia Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson was on hand. It could not be immediately determined if either of the suspects had attorneys.

Police said both of the men knew Pough from their Germantown neighborhood and that Riggins knew Pough from YouthBuild Charter School, which they both attended, but authorities didn't identify a specific motive.

"There was some kind of dispute, but we don't know what it was," Chief Inspector Joseph Fox said.

The People magazine profile in August brought Pough support that included donations for rent and a car to get to work.

The car, reported missing after Pough was slain, was recovered Sunday, police said. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the arrest, which involved city detectives and federal law-enforcement agencies, was a culmination of information received from police sources and gathered after Pough's vehicle was recovered in Philadelphia's Kensington section.

A night manager at a fast-food restaurant, Pough worked long hours to finish school and support his two-year-old daughter, Diamond.

At Youthbuild, the North Philadelphia charter school where Pough was learning construction skills since he began attending in September, students were crushed at the news of Pough's death, attending his funeral Sunday in droves. Pough was slated to graduate in June.

The magazine honored Pough as an outstanding father in a four-page profile in August. In it, he was quoted as saying: "If something ever happens to me, no one can ever tell her that her dad didn't take care of her."
